United Avian Registry's Mission Statement 


To be consistently recognized in the avian / bird community as a professional organization that manages a vibrant, progressive, dependable and responsible avian / bird organization. 

To maintain a registry for captive birds and preserve the integrity of the registry's genealogical data base.

To promote education, conservation and preservation of captive bird species with an emphasis on rare and endangered populations. 

To cultivate an interest and growth in aviculture while encouraging and maintaining the process of breeding for conservation and improved genetic diversity of all captive species of birds.

To be clearly recognized and respected by the avian / bird community as an organization that truly cares about the advancement and betterment of all birds species. 

 
               Breeder's Code Of Ethics

  The United Avian Registry ask that all breeders subscribe to the UAR - Breeder's Code of Ethics as well as promote the highest standards among breeders and owners and to encourage and support education and cooperation in the preservation, conservation and advancement of UAR registered breeds. 

I will keep accurate records of my birds.  These records will include registration certificates, identification information (band or micro-chip), sales contracts, pedigrees, vaccination and breeding records.

I will maintain absolute identification of all my birds, examples: photos, tattoos, microchips, bands, registration papers and pedigrees.

I shall plan each breeding with the objective of the improvement and advancement of the species. 

I will thoughtfully plan my breedings and select the parents with an emphasis on good health, correct conformation, pheno-type and improving genetics.

I will uphold the highest standards of health and care for my birds while maintaining good husbandry practices and I will provide sufficient water, food, shelter and veterinary attention as needed.

I will provide each buyer with UAR registration papers at the time of sale, unless a written agreement stating otherwise has been signed by the buyer.

I will help and educate the potential clients as to the basic characteristics, both physical and mental, of my breed to assist in determining if it is the right breed for them.

I will provide proper socialization for all my birds and babies and interact with each daily.

I will not be involved in or use my birds for any illegal activity.  None of my birds are intended for any illegal activity and will not be sold for such use.

I will refrain from releasing my babies / chicks to their new owners until they are properly weaned.

The United Avian Registry's Breeder's Code of Ethics has been designed as a guideline for breeders and fanciers.  It is not a legal document and should not be construed as a rule or regulation to be enforced by punishment, it carries no enforceable punishment.  A breeder's adherence to the Breeder's Code of Ethics is voluntary.
